Lisa Ballard has filmed, photographed and written about conservation, outdoor recreation and natural history for most of her adult life. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she technically majored in economics, though she really focused on all things outdoors. She’s received three Emmy Awards for her work as a field producer and host of Wildlife Journal (PBS) and a closet full of awards for her documentary films, writing and photography. She contributes regularly to 25+ magazines and web sites and just finished her twelfth book. When she’s not on an assignment photographing polar bears on Hudson Bay, caving in the Caribbean or tracking glacial recession on Kilimanjaro, you’ll find her in Red Lodge, Montana, where she’s probably birding, skiing or fly fishing out her backdoor. www.LisaBallardOutdoors.com.
