Bruce McKenney is Strategy Director for the Nature Conservancy’s Development by Design global program, advancing development and conservation goals to achieve sustainable outcomes. He has 20 years of experience applying economic and policy analysis to support environmental goals and human well-being. Prior to joining the Conservancy in 2006, Bruce worked as a Senior Associate at Hardner & Gullison Associates providing technical support for biodiversity conservation and at Industrial Economics conducting economic and regulatory analyses. He also worked for five years in Cambodia, serving as Director for Natural Resources and Environment at the Cambodia Development Resource Institute. Bruce’s work includes projects and studies for the World Bank, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, World Wildlife Fund, World Commission on Dams, Moore Foundation, and National Parks Conservation Association. Bruce holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University, an Honors Degree in African Studies from the University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science from Brown University. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.
