Alien invaders are taking over many ecosystems on the planet.

Not alien invaders from space, mind you, but invasive species — plants and animals — that find their way or are brought into new habitats. And these invasive species are decimating the native plants and animals that lived there first.

There are many ways to combat invasive species. Preventing their introduction in the first place is the best defense, but what to do once they’ve already landed in a new location?

Well, some scientists have a brave new suggestion: eat them »

That’s right, invasives can be tasty. From hogs to lionfish to blackberries to prawns, there might be something for everyone out there.

Just think — you could satiate your hunger and help save the planet all in one sitting!

Have you ever eaten an invasive species? Share your experience or thoughts about this interesting way to combat invasives in the comments section below.
