50 million diapers get tossed each day and each one takes up to 500 years to biodegrade. gDiapers is looking to solve that problem by creating what they call the most eco-friendly diaper available, one that breaks down in 50-150 days. Their customers can home compost, toss, or flush the biodegradable gRefill for the smallest footprint on earth.
When we asked them if they had someone to answer our hard-hitting partner Q&A they said the had the perfect person.

Find out why she loves a bauble in the toe of a sock and a green dickie under a white v-neck sweater.
1. Why did you choose to participate in Green Gift Monday?
Because it makes so much sense! A couple of generations ago we were a culture that cloth-diapered. Then disposables came along, a product that should have been greeted as a once-in-awhile resource, like paper plates at a company barbecue. Instead, they became the full-time diaper solution for 95% of US families. That seems like a pretty big leap in illogical behavior. Shouldn’t there have been a halfway point? A cloth diaper with an earth-friendly disposable option? Of course! But it took seeing our big mistake before we made the connection to a needed change, a re-evaluation of what’s really convenient. What is convenient? A disposable diaper that leaves a huge mess for later, or a reusable diaper with little to no mess later? What is a good gift? A shiny, flashing beeping distraction that was bought at a huge discount, or a responsible, intentional, meaningful gift that benefits everyone?
2. What’s your favorite holiday movie or TV special?
There’s simply no way to pick one. So here are my top three, and why.
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – because there’s simply not much funnier than Cousin Eddie wearing a green dickie under a white v-neck sweater.
- A Christmas Story – bittersweet nostalgia, it’s not all Rudolph and candycanes, sometimes Santa is just plain frightening.
- Elf – Will Ferrell in tights. “Good news! I saw a dog today!”
3. What makes your product or service a meaningful gifting option?
gDiapers is revolutionizing diapers. Parents get the convenience of a disposable without the guilt (gRefills are the only certified 100% biodegradable diaper), the reusable option of a cloth insert, and the cute factor. All babies will wear a diaper at some time, so when the time comes, we think giving gDiapers will not only satisfy the itch to give something groovy, but will fulfill a genuine need.
4. How are you spreading the word about Green Gift Monday?
We’re a very chatty bunch. We are so fortunate to have over 21,000 fans on facebook and coast-to-coast ambassadors for our product called gMums and gDads. We are regularly sharing the news about Green Gift Monday with this amazing network of friends, fans and family and asking that they do the same. We love to hear all the different ways people are planning on giving green!
5. What’s your favorite holiday tradition?
I love stockings. Yes, I love all the glow and warmth and non-tangibles that come with the holiday season. But I really really love sitting down on Christmas morning and diving into my stocking to see what little bauble or edible is buried in the toe. There’s no wrapping paper. No big ticket items. Just little “thoughts” tucked inside a sock. It’s an old tradition that has spanned continents and it just feels so festive.
6. Share one tip on how you’re personally going to green your holiday.
Re-sale shopping. I found a gently used wooden toy kitchen for my 2 year old daughter. And with that as her “big” gift the family can add on with handmade accessories, recycled food cartons/containers, etc. No impulse purchases. Just something that we can all play with!
