Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, and numerous other environmental orgs have been working hard to convince Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano to consider the environmental impact of the border wall, and specifically to spare the palm forest of South Texas and Otay Mountain Wilderness Area in California. So far no luck. The Obama Administration appears to be unwilling to take the political heat that sparing these critical habitats would entail.
