- Could You Mow the Roof This Weekend? The city of Toronto is considering making green roofs mandatory for new condos and office or retail complexes above a certain size. Red Green and Blue says that sounds good — but the problems might outweigh the benefits.
- A Cool Green Future for Just Pennies a Day: The Waxman-Markey climate change bill would cost the average U.S. household only $150 a year, says a new EPA estimate.
- Is Green the Old Black? The New Yorker’s Elizabeth Kolbert says Earth Day (and especially the movement to do something about global warming) is losing its steam in the United States…and she and other blogs are blaming President Obama in part. (Hat tip: Environmental Capital.)
- Use “Ecotourism” and “Afghanistan” in a Sentence: Afghanistan has announced the establishment of its first national park in an effort to make the park’s surrounding local economy more sustainable through ecotourism, reports Short Sharp Science.
- 10 Things Not to Do on Earth Day: Via Treehugger, they include not driving like a teenager, not eating snack packs and not wearing makeup, according to green-tips author Diane MacEachern.
