- Do Scooters Pollute More Than Hummers? That’s a claim made in a Chicago Tribune advice column, repeated in a US News and World Report blog post and then repeated again in a Huffington Post article. (Don’t these places have editors?) Hank Green of EcoGeek debunks it all.
- Is the Pope Really Green? Amanda Peterka at Red Green and Blue looks into what Pope Benedict XVI and the Vatican have done to go green since the Pope made the environment a top spiritual concern in speeches. (She’s still looking.)
- The President Sure Isn’t: Red Green and Blue also calculates the carbon footprint of an average U.S. president, and also asks: Shouldn’t President Obama turn down the thermostat in the White House?
- Big Gaping Energy Hole: Tom Zeller, Jr. of Green Inc. had an energy audit performed on his home…and the thermal photos show his house has the equivalent of a six-square-foot opening letting heat (and air conditioning) escape at all times.
- “They Ate the Pizza and Left Us the Crumbs”: That’s the assessment of Anjelica Navarro Llano, Bolivia’s ambassador to the UN climate change talks, about how rich countries need to pay poor countries to reduce their carbon emissions. Dot Earth wraps up the recently concluded Bonn conference on climate change and says the rich-poor divide is a big sticking point to reaching an accord.
