- Great Leap Forward: Papua New Guinea has designated its first ever national conservation area, protecting (among other fauna) the endangered tree kangaroo (which has been seen to jump 59 feet from ground to tree).
- Zap! Researchers at MIT say they’ve found a way to make the batteries that go into cell phones and hybrid cars charge faster — as little as 10 seconds for a mobile. (Hat tip: EcoGeek.)
- Harshing the Mellow: Rising sea levels from climate change could displace nearly 500,000 Californians by 2100, says the Pacific Institute. (Hat tip: Gristmill.) Meanwhile, new estimates say climate change could cost California’s economy up to $15 billion by 2050. (Hat tip: Environmental Economics.)
- C’est Vert, Mais C’est Monstrueux Aussi? A new Norman Foster designed sustainable community is slated for the Parisian suburbs — including twin skyscrapers. Parisians have always fought skyscrapers, so this should be interesting.
- Pizza — It’s Great! Earth911.com tells you exactly why you can’t recycle your pizza boxes — and how you need to prepare you other recyclables to make sure they won’t contaminate the recycling process. (Hat tip: Low Impact Living.)

What really scared me was hearing today about the coming 22″ rising of the sea level on the eastcoast of the US this summer due to global warming.

Knowledge is power. You have to understand the problems at hand to be able to deal with them effectively. The environment has been being attacked for decades and decades from pollution-causing manufacturing plants and governmental agencies who do far less than not caring. Truths have been consistently masked and hidden from the public in the name of increased profit margins. To believe otherwise is both ludicrous and self-destructive.
