Many of us at The Nature Conservancy were privileged to work with Jim Range.  We are all saddened by the news of his untimely death at the far too young age of 63.

The world is a better place because of Jim’s passion, political savvy and commitment to conservation.

Jim was chief counsel to former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker of Tennessee from 1980 to 1984, and before that as counsel to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

In recent years, Jim was chairman of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership’s board of directors.  He also served on the board of directors for a number of conservation organizations, including the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Trout Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited.

Our memories of Jim include his tireless advocacy for new investments in conservation, habitat conservation and the preservation of special places in his home state of Tennessee and elsewhere around the country.

Poor Skye. Poor people-who-loved-Jim. I hope his memory can bring them comfort now.
